Planting days with the schools - April 18th, 2018

Our second schools planting sessions too place on the next day. In the morning Coed Glas school tackled the entrance from Ewenny Rd.

In the afternoon we met up with Llanishen High School. We split into three groups. A couple of the older pupils helped Kevin (our Ranger) to dig up a bit of path to put in a pipe to improve drainage. A second group (with suitable footwear!) tackled the marshy areas in the Boggy Meadow and near the entrance. The third group tackled the drier areas near the entrance and in the nearby copse.

Over the two days we planted: 200 Ragged Robin, 200 Primroses, 250 Red Campion, 100 Bluebells, 100 Cowslips, 100 Snakeshead Fritillary, and 40 Marsh Marigolds. We also reseeded damaged areas with grass and wild flower seeds. We shall also be planting 150 Hemp Agrimony on a future Friends workday. The Bee and Butterfly Border was planted with Honeysuckle, Jasmine, Clematis and Buddleia.

We also dispersed a variety seeds from Grow Wild (Native Welsh wild flower seeds provided by Kew Garden, funded by the Lottery)
